There will be a coaches' meeting on Wednesday, September 1st at Hopewell Jr. High cafeteria from 7:00 - 9:00 pm (8200 Cox Rd).  Any individual interested in coaching a team is asked to attend.  Key dates, player eligibility, team distributions, and other general information will be reviewed.

01/07/10 WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT

Lakota Thunderbird Basketball TEAM PHOTOS January 8 through January 10th:  
Local News Forecasters are predicting snow beginning Thursday, January 7 ending Sunday, January 10th.   The Lakota Thunderbird Basketball organization will be monitoring the weather conditions to determine if cancelations for team photos will be needed.   If any cancelations of team photos are needed the T-birds will list the information on the Thunderbird Home page.  The website URL is www.tbirdhoops.org.  Every effort will be made to make this decision in a timely manner – please check this information BEFORE you leave your home.    The basketball organizations may cancel basketball games – this does not mean photos are cancelled.   The photos may be cancelled and basketball games may still be played.   IF CANCELATIONS ARE REQUIRED the notice will list specific information to allow as many teams as possible have their photos taken.

01/07/10 Information for TBird Parents: PHOTOS

This weekend the Lakota T-birds will hold team and individual photos. Coaches have already selected a time for your team.  Here are a few reminders:

Know your coaches Last Name - Photo times are scheduled by your coach’s last name.

Photo Dates are:
  Friday, January 8th
  Saturday, January 9th
  Saturday, January 9th
Contact your coach for your time slot/arrival time.

Your Photo Arrival Time - It is extremely important for each family/player to arrive at the time your coach tells you.  Arriving late could cause your player to not be included in your team’s photo.

Ask your coach what COLOR jersey your team will be wearing - saves changing time and other issues.

Order Form and Payment is required at time of Photos.  Parents should pay/order as soon as they arrive. All Star will have a payment table for you. No need to wait as a team.  Each player holds own form for photographer.  All-Star will accept, cash, checks and some credit cards.  No purchase is required to be in the team photo.

NO BASKETBALLS are to be brought into the school - the photographer will have some for the photos.

12/13/09 Camp Opportunity -- Hawks Holiday Camp

Wally Vickers and the Lakota East Boys Basketball Program are excited to announce holiday camp plans. Emphasis will be placed on offensive fundamentals.  The camp will stress shooting, passing and dribbling and offensive team play. To succeed in basketball a player must master the fundamentals.  Camp staff will consist of Hawks coaches and players.  If you love basketball like we do you, please sign up for a week of camp.  Join the Lakota East Boys Basketball Program as they prepare to win another GMC Championship.  Hope to see you in the gym!

10/24/09 Equipment Day and Practice Times

Equipment Day - 10/31  

Coaches, please remember that we have equipment pick-up Saturday October 31, 2009 at Hopewell Jr. High from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon.  At this time, you are expected to turn in your team signup fees ($1350/team for select/athletic teams or $135/player for most teams) along with your players, parents, & coaches Codes of Conduct forms.  It is important that we collect signup fees for all players on your team.  If you cannot attend, please make sure to send another representative.   

Each year we have a number of situations where the coach sends a representative who gets all the information but the coach does not review the information thoroughly, especially the conflict schedule.  PLEASE be advised to go over the conflict schedule before your first practice and make sure you understand what days your practice may be affected.  Contact your division coordinator first if you have ANY questions or problems about your practice times.  

Practice Time - starts 11/4  

Practice starts on Wednesday, November 4th (Nov 3rd for 3rd grade at McGee's).  Coaches, please remember that if school activities take priority over Thunderbird Basketball practice.  If the school is closed (i.e. Election Day, in-service day, holiday, snow days etc.) there is NO PRACTICE and these practices will not normally be rescheduled.  There are times when your practice will be rescheduled due to a school activity.  Jamie Colon will provide periodic email updates to the conflict schedule, and will keep an updated conflict schedule on the TBird web under the Coaches Toolbox if you ever have any questions.

07/21/09 Summer Skills Clinic

The Lakota East Women’s Basketball Program will be sponsoring a Summer Skills Clinic for all kids, both girls and boys entering grades 4-8 in the fall, instructed by Lakota East’s own Nikki Drew, Women’s Assistant Varsity Coach and Rich McGillis, Women’s Varsity Coach at Reading High School.  The clinic will be held on Friday July 31 from 6-9 pm at the Lakota East High School Gym.  Click here to view the informational flyer.

Andy Fishman will be holding an organizational meeting on April 30 for girls in grades 1-11 interested in improving their basketball skills and learning about the Lakota West basketball program.  Andy also invites Thunderbird Youth Basketball participants to consider attending the Lakota West summer basketball camps and/or summer league.  Opportunities are available for Girls in Grades 1-9 in June.

Signups for Grades 7-8 will be held on this Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Hopewell Jr. High (Cox Rd.):  

  Girls 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

  Boys 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm  

Boys and girls who are interested in signing up for a Thunderbird team must attend the Saturday, November 15th session. All participating boys and girls should wear attire appropriate for playing basketball. Please do NOT bring any basketballs to the tryouts. Just to clarify some confusion, the TBird Organization will be taking team photos on January 18, 19, and 20 at Ridge Jr. High (more details to come soon).  We have heard that Courts4Sports is offering to take team photos at their facility, but that is NOT the officially-run TBird event.

Lakota Thunderbird Basketball TEAM PHOTOS January 8 through January 10th:  
Local News Forecasters are predicting snow beginning Thursday, January 7 ending Sunday, January 10th.   The Lakota Thunderbird Basketball organization will be monitoring the weather conditions to determine if cancelations for team photos will be needed.   If any cancelations of team photos are needed the T-birds will list the information on the Thunderbird Home page.  The website URL is www.tbirdhoops.org.  Every effort will be made to make this decision in a timely manner – please check this information BEFORE you leave your home.    The basketball organizations may cancel basketball games – this does not mean photos are cancelled.   The photos may be cancelled and basketball games may still be played.   IF CANCELATIONS ARE REQUIRED the notice will list specific information to allow as many teams as possible have their photos taken.

This coming weekend the Lakota T-birds will hold team and individual photos.  Please remind your team's coaches/parents:

Your Last Name - many parents only know you as Coach or your first name. Photo times are scheduled by your last name.

Your Photo Day and Date: Friday, Saturday or Sunday - along with 8, 9,or 10.

Your Photo Arrival Time - please make sure parents understand what your arrival time is - remember all times should be 15 minutes before your scheduled time, make sure parents know this.

What COLOR jersey your team will be wearing - saves changing time and other issues.

Order Forms and Payment are required at time of Photos.  Parents should pay/order as soon as they arrive.  No need to wait as a team. Each player holds own form for photographer.

NO BASKETBALLS are to be brought into the school - the photographer will have some for the photos.

12/13/09 Camp Opportunity -- Hawks Holiday Camp

Wally Vickers and the Lakota East Boys Basketball Program are excited to announce holiday camp plans. Emphasis will be placed on offensive fundamentals.  The camp will stress shooting, passing and dribbling and offensive team play. To succeed in basketball a player must master the fundamentals.  Camp staff will consist of Hawks coaches and players.  If you love basketball like we do you, please sign up for a week of camp.  Join the Lakota East Boys Basketball Program as they prepare to win another GMC Championship.  Hope to see you in the gym!

11/25/09 Lakota East Foundation Game 11/28/2009

The Lakota East Foundation Game is Saturday November 28th at 7:00 pm.  Lakota East will play Moeller at Lakota East High School.  Proceeds from the game will be donated to the Bill Brewer Scholarship Fund. Bill Brewer, Head Coach at Princeton High School, passed away suddenly a few years ago.    All Thunderbird players should wear their jerseys to the game.  Please consider supporting the Bill Brewer Scholarship Fund and enjoying a Lakota East HS Basketball game!

10/24/09 Equipment Day and Practice Times

Equipment Day - 10/31  

Coaches, please remember that we have equipment pick-up Saturday October 31, 2009 at Hopewell Jr. High from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon.  At this time, you are expected to turn in your team signup fees ($1350/team for select/athletic teams or $135/player for most teams) along with your players, parents, & coaches Codes of Conduct forms.  It is important that we collect signup fees for all players on your team.  If you cannot attend, please make sure to send another representative.   

Each year we have a number of situations where the coach sends a representative who gets all the information but the coach does not review the information thoroughly, especially the conflict schedule.  PLEASE be advised to go over the conflict schedule before your first practice and make sure you understand what days your practice may be affected.  Contact your division coordinator first if you have ANY questions or problems about your practice times.  

Practice Time - starts 11/4  

Practice starts on Wednesday, November 4th (Nov 3rd for 3rd grade at McGee's).  Coaches, please remember that if school activities take priority over Thunderbird Basketball practice.  If the school is closed (i.e. Election Day, in-service day, holiday, snow days etc.) there is NO PRACTICE and these practices will not normally be rescheduled.  There are times when your practice will be rescheduled due to a school activity.  Jamie Colon will provide periodic email updates to the conflict schedule, and will keep an updated conflict schedule on the TBird web under the Coaches Toolbox if you ever have any questions.

Attention all Lady Musketeer Fans:
Celebrate the end of your Thunderbird Basketball season by attending the Xavier Women’s basketball game on Wednesday  February 27th at 7pm. Please join us as they take on local rival Dayton in the last home game of regular season.

1/13/08 Team Photos Taken Jan 18-19-20

The email is just to reminder you that team photos will be taken this coming weekend, January 18-19-20 at Ridge Jr. High (6199 Becket Ridge Blvd).  
Coaches, please make sure to check the All-Star Digital webpage for your time, and if you have not signed up yet, visit the website ASAP to sign up, or contact Pam Naber at 755-0851 (pamnaber@fuse.net).  We recommended that you download the picture order form from the All-Star Digital webpage and pass it out to your team at practice this week so that parents have time to select their preferred photo package.

1/13/08 TBirdHoops Team Picture Announcement

Just to clarify some confusion, the TBird Organization will be taking team photos on January 18, 19, and 20 at Ridge Jr. High (more details to come soon).  We have heard that Courts4Sports is offering to take team photos at their facility, but that is NOT the officially-run TBird event. 

11/8/2007 4th Annual Lakota Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament Nov 20,21,22,23&24 in Mason

Many of you have placed teams in our prior tournaments or you've played games @ Courts4Sports. If you're still involved with youth basketball, please consider joining us again for a GREAT tournament experience. Some key points:

  • 3 game minimum
  • grades 4-6
  • boys & girls, rec & select divisions
  • individual 1st & 2nd place awards
  • Nov 13th deadline
  • $175 entry fee
  • No games played T-giving day!

10/14/2007 Third Reminder With Important Changes!  Coaches Clinics

This is a reminder for Head and Assistant Coaches about the upcoming Lakota Thunderbird Youth Basketball Coaches' Clinics conducted by the Varsity Coaches from Lakota East and West High Schools.  
The Boys' Coaches clinic will be held next Monday, October 15th @ Ridge Jr. (please note change in location!) from 7-9 pm.  Mike & Scott Mueller with supporting West cast will conduct the clinic from 7-8 pm.  Wally Vickers and his East supporting cast will lead the session from 8-9 pm.
The Girls' Coaches clinic will be held next Tuesday, October 16th @ Ridge Jr. from 7-9 pm.  Former University of Cincinnati Womens' Head Basketball Coach Laurie Pritle will be partnering with Lakota West Womens' Varsity Head Basketball Coach Andy Fishman to conduct the clinic.  Expect a very interesting and educational evening from these two exceptional coaches, brought to you at no charge by the Lakota Thunderbird Youth Basketball Program.  
Head Coaches!  Please make every effort to attend and bring your assistant coaches with you!

Lakota ThunderBird Basketball Pre-Season Coaches Meeting, Wednesday September 5th 
There will be a Lakota ThunderBird Basketball Pre-Season coaches' meeting on Wednesday, September 5th at the Liberty Jr. High cafeteria from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  Any individual interested in coaching a basketball team is asked to attend.  Key dates, player eligibility, team distributions, and other general information will be reviewed.

Lakota ThunderBird Basketball Kicks off the 2007-2008 Season One Week Early This Year 
Parents, Players and Coaches:  The Lakota ThunderBird Youth Basketball Organization kicks off the 2007-2008 season with sign-ups for boys & girls in grades 3-6 on Saturday, September 8th at Liberty Jr. High located on Dutchland Parkway.  Please note that this is one week earlier than sign-ups in prior years.  A skills-assessment will be held as follows:

Girls
6th Grade    8:30-9:15 am
5th Grade    9:15-10:00 am
4th Grade    10:00-10:45 am
3rd Grade    10:45-11:30 am
Boys
4th Grade    11:30-12:30 pm
5th Grade    12:30-2:00 pm
4th Grade    2:00-3:30 pm
3rd Grade    3:30-5:00 pm

If you cannot make your specified time, please come at another time slot on Saturday. For those who cannot attend on Saturday, a smaller make-up skills-assessment will be held on Sunday, September 9th at Liberty Jr. High as follows: 

Girls
3-6 grade    1:00 - 2:30 pm
Boys
3-4 grade    2:30 - 3:30 pm
5-6 grade    3:30 - 4:30 pm

Sign-ups for grades 7-8 will be held on November 10th.  More information will follow.
