Lakota Thunderbird 4th Grade Girls Select Basketball Team Goes Undefeated & Wire to Wire!
This incredible team of nine and ten year old girls, combined
their talents for an outstanding, fun, and exciting winter
basketball season. Participating in two different leagues, The
Eastern Hills Girls Basketball League and The Southwestern
Ohio Basketball League. The team was headed by Andy Fishman, Lakota
West's Girls Varsity head coach and assisted by three very talented
team dads in Scott Cannatelli, Marty Limbert and Jim Aull.
The girls swept both leagues in the regular season and swept both championship tournaments for a combined record of (24-0). "It's all about heart, chemistry and great coaching" stated Brian Zink, a proud team parent. Not only did the girls have great chemistry, the parents really hit it off creating life long friendships. In addition to their own games the team and the parents regularly attended all or most of Lakota West's Girls basketball games proudly wearing their Lakota West spirit wear and eating tootsie pops( a copied pre game ritual of head coach Andy Fishman) in support of Andy and his GMC champion Firebirds. So what's next for this team of outstanding 4th grade girls now that the T-Bird season over? Well, all Ten girls tried out for the prestigious Ohio Hardwood Heat AAU Girls Basketball Academy and made the team. There were many girls who tried out and in fact so many that the organization was able to create two teams consisting of nine and ten year old girls. posted 3/25/2007
